How to become an NCCP certified Coach with KCS
To be a swim skills coach
(Community Sport Coach CERTified)
- Must be 15 years old
- Create an NCCP account
- Complete required training
- Safe Sport (e-learning in The Locker)
- Making Ethical Decisions (MED) Course
- Making Ethical Decisions (MED) Evaluation (in The Locker)
- Community Sport Coach Course
- Register to be a coach through Swim Canada by creating a Learning Management System (LMS) account
- Course Info - through Swimming Canada Education
Note: Alternative Pathway - Lifesaving Instructor certification through the City of Kamloops instead of Community Sport Coach.
To be a Novice / Junior Coach (Fundamentals coach certified)
- Start this process in your second year of coaching at 16 years old
- Complete all of the Community Sport Coach requirements listed in the Swim Skills coach section
- PLUS:
- Swimming 101 eLearning pre-course
- Log in to your Swim Canada LMS coaching account to access pre-course work or register to be a coach if you do not have one
- Swimming 101 Course
- Complete the Fundamentals Coach Portfolio in your Swim Canada LMS coaching account to become certified
- Swimming 101 eLearning pre-course
Note: Coaches may skip Community Sport Coach requirements and start at Fundamentals. Coaches must still take Safe Sport Training.
