Hello KCS Families,

It is time again for Laps for Loonies!

What is it?
Laps for Loonies is an annual fundraising event for Kamloops Classic Swimming, where we collect funds to supplement our Gaming Fund support and offset rising expenses, ensuring that swimming remains financially accessible to most Kamloops families particularly these funds can help support updates and improvements to our electronic timing system and the implementation of a new underwater video system. Swimmers can raise money for the club by seeking sponsors ahead of time for each lap they swim during our Laps for Loonies challenge on May 2, 2026. This season, swimmers will challenge themselves to swim as many 100ms with minimum 15 seconds rest as they can in the two hour time limit.

When Is It, and How Does It Run?

How Do I Get Pledges?

  • Pledges may be collected from family, friends, teachers, neighbours, business associates, local businesses, etc., either by going door to door, sending an e-mail, making a phone call or by writing a letter.
  • Each swimmer will receive a pledge form and extras can be printed.
  • Pledges are entered into an online pledge collection system connected to the KCS website.
  • Prizes will be awarded to the top 3 fundraisers and top 3 finishers.
  • You miss 100% of the pledges you don't ask for!

This year, we are aiming for new highs as a club, looking to exceed our average annual fundraised amount of $10,000 in order to continue developing our club to best serve our members and the community!

What are the Ways People Can Donate?

We accept CASH, CHEQUE (Kamloops Aquatics Club), E-TRANSFER (admin@swimkamloops.com) and if you require a tax receipt, please donate via the website. 100% of your donation made by cash, cheque or e-transfer will go directly to the club.

Lap Counters earn Volunteer Points

We need family members to come out and help count laps for swimmers. Please use the job sign-up on the event page to register to help count laps. This counts towards your family commitment to earning volunteer points, plus you'll get to watch your swimmer(s) tackle this swim challenge!

When and Where Do We Turn in the Money?

  • Bring completed pledge forms & money throughout the fundraising period and turn them into the swim office. Additional pledge forms will be available in the office.
  • Pledges can be made with electronic payment via the website.
  • E-transfers sent to admin@swimkamloops.com must include a notation to indicate full swimmer name and that it is for Laps for Loonies to be counted towards prizes at the end.
  • Any cheques collected should be made out to “Kamloops Aquatic Club”.
  • All money has to be submitted by May 8, 2026 to be considered for prizes.
